The results of our final Voice of IT survey for 2025 are in! More than 400 IT pros took the time to share their thoughts on enterprise laptops, and the result is an in-depth temperature check on the state of modern business computing hardware.

You likely won’t be surprised to see Lenovo, HP, and Dell at the top of the list given their respective shares of the global marketOpens a new window . The margin of victory in the portion of our survey that asked about specific brands of laptops was thin, which makes it all the more impressive that Lenovo came out on top by two-tenths of a point.

We determined the winners from the vendor portion of our laptop survey based on the satisfaction score, with likelihood to recommend as a tie-breaker if needed. For this year’s survey, Lenovo received the highest score for both questions, making it the clear winner overall.

You can scroll through all of the vendor-specific questions in the interactive bar chart below. The subcategory scores give us a broader perspective across the various aspects of implementing and supporting a laptop rollout in a business environment. Look closely and you’ll notice a general trend across all of the brands. The average sentiments for questions about administration and management (3.6) and maintenance and durability (3.5) are noticeably higher than respondents feelings about cost (3.2) and warranty and support (3.2).

It’s also worth noting that we ran this survey before the cost of memory spiked, which I suspect will drive down the overall cost scores if costs don’t come back down before we run this survey again in 2026.

Beyond the vendor-specific questions, our laptop survey also asked a more general series of questions about managing laptops in a business setting. We found the responses to the top three improvements IT professionals would like to see the manufacturers add to future business laptops particularly intriguing.

We broke the responses down by company size, and if you click through you’ll see that for businesses of almost every size, longer battery life is the single most requested improvement. The results get a bit less consistent from there, with more durable keyboards and hinges and longer support lifecycles generally the next most popular choices, but it’s worth scanning to see how priorities vary as the size of the user base changes.

Thank you to all of our survey participants. We’ll have a few stories from the rest of the survey data over the next two weeks. And stay tuned for the next set of survey questions for the first Voice of IT survey in 2026.
